Aaron Ekins and Zane DeVault of the Icicles

Although they’ve been in the band for over a year now, we have neglected to introduce our “newest” band members Zane DeVault (drums) and Aaron Ekins (bass guitar). We thought it might be interesting to have them tell you a little about themselves:

Where did you grow up?

[Aaron] Spread Eagle, Wisconsin….yup, Spread Eagle, Wisconsin……when I left the population dropped by 20%
[Zane] Jackson, MI

What is the first instrument you played and how did you start playing it?

[Aaron] Piano, my mother made me.
[Zane] Recorder at school in 3rd grade

What is the first album you bought?

[Aaron] Quiet Riot-Metal Health……..epic
[Zane] Pink Floyd – Dark Side of the Moon

Who are your biggest influences?

[Aaron] Pink Floyd, John Kerry, Bob Dylan, my mother
[Zane] Spiritualized – Wedding Present – Stone Roses

What do you like most about making music?

[Aaron] The body buzz…….total relaxation
[Zane] Being with cool people and making something beautiful

What do you dig about being an Icicle?

[Aaron] Rehearsal, recording, gigging ,touring, everything
[Zane] Adventure touring

If you had a theme song what would it be?

[Aaron] The Impossible Dream, not that I actually do any of those things but I’m brought to tears every time I think of the lyrics.  Oh Oh…here they come.

What is your favorite Icicle outfit?

[Aaron] Let’s see…….I think I’ll have to go with the red one.
