Rebecca Rodriguez

Rebecca Rodriguez - Vocals, Lead Guitar

What instrument do you play?
The instrument I play is lead guitar and sometimes glockenspiel.

First album you ever bought:
This was quite far back.. but I do remember buying The Smiths Strangeways Here We Come(1987) and  being so excited to use my own money for it.

Favorite album of all time:
Miles Davis Bitches Brew.. people either love or hate it. I guess I am one of those people who are always pleasantly surprised by this album.

CD/Tape playing in your car:
I’ve got The Sea and Cake The Biz (1995) playing.  The drums are so amazing on this album!

Favorite food:
Favorite food? Where to begin? In Florence, Italy, I ate in a family trattoria a couple of blocks from where i lived. Their special was butternut squash ravioli with sage cream.. washed down with some beautiful Italian wine..one of the best meals i have ever eaten in my life!

How did you start playing music?
I started playing music when I was young. Piano first, then saxaphone in junior high school. I didnt start playing guitar until I was 18..then my girlfriend and I started one of the first female lead bands in Grand Rapids at the time (1991). We called ourselves “Wonderboy”. From there I took a few years of classical guitar and have continued to play in bands ever since.

Best concert ever:
In the 90′s seatte grunge era. I got to see Seaweed at Club Soda in Kalamazoo. I had so much fun at that show.. I remember my friends telling me “I’ve never seen you rock out like that before!”

What is your day job:
I have a part time job at Richmond Stamp Works. It is a small, family run business. We make all kinds of amazing things. We work with a lot of graphic designers and artists.. seeing their ideas take shape into tangible, cool things is why I really love my job.

Favorite pair of socks:

Hobbies:
Some of my hobbies include printmaking (although that is much more than just a hobby for me).  Gardening and being outside, riding my bike. I also love to cook..especially Indian or Thai food. Now, if only I could work out that Italian sage cream dish…
